About

Before coming to the Netherlands, I studied and worked as a journalist in China. After graduating from HKU (Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht) in 2016, I experimented with different medium and materials, and then explored myself as a painter.

In my oil and acrylic paintings, plant and nature are important themes. I collects the images of surroundings with plants, such as a pond with grass lying in the front, pot plants standing next to a sofa, a bird nest resting in the grass or branches scattered on the ground after a storm. The relationship between nature and space creates a fascinating whispering, which is quiet but powerful. There are hidden emotions and desires exist in such environment. I intend to share my self-consciousness and unique view with viewers, to reveal the power of silence.

I care more about transferring personal emotions through images, the authentic feelings of individuals. Defined by race, gender or collective identity is like a cage to me, however no one can escape from who they are and where they come from. Plants are more neutral existence in this world, even though they also have different geographical identity. Whenever I move to a new place, plants are always the first things I look for. I buy them, collecting them from other people, especially from people to people, like a green legacy. It makes any space more private, I feel myself connected to these plants, standing in an empty room, like me moving to a foreign country, I have the eager to paint them, make a portrait of them, considering green plants as a secret wonderland for only me.
